In the distant past, Kerala was known as a society, which had agriculture as its chief occupation and source of income. A variety of the state's produce from rice and coconuts to spices and condiments were much in demand, in Kerala and abroad. The paddy fields of Kuttanad and Palakkad anf the rubber and spice estates of central Kerala played an active role in maintaing the food and financial security of the states and its people. |

Ayurveda, meaning the 'Sience of Life' originated in India long back in pre-vedic period. Ayurveda texts like Charak Samhita and Sushruta Samhita were documented at about 1000 years B.C. It deals elaborately with measures for healthy living during the entire span of life and its various phases. It also developed a wide range of therapeutic measures to combat illness. These principles of positive health and therapeutic measures relate to physical, mental, social and spiritual welfare of human beings. Thus ayurveda becomes one of the oldest systems of health care dealing with both the premitive and curative aspects of life in a most comprehensive way and presents a close similarity to th WHO's concept of health propounded in the modern era. |

were accorded ‘industry’ status by the Government of India
making it eligible for film financing from banks and financial institutions
while the Industrial Development Bank of India(IDBI) set up the country’s
first film fund worth Rs100 crores. Cable television is the largest revenue
earner with television broadcasting in second place and film third, followed
closely by television production. The future primary drivers for the entertainment
industry will be growth in GDP, changes in demographic and the adoption
of digital technology by the industry. |
