As part of the evacuation of Indians from Lebanon, two Malayalees reached Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode by IC 167 and IC 657 respectively on 31/07/2006. With this, the total number of Malayalees that has returned home following the crisis in Lebanon as on July 31, 2006 stands at 68.

The Air India Flight carrying 410 Indians from Lebanon arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi on 28/07/2006 and there were Seven malayalees in this group. Five of them arrived at Trivandrum Airport on 28/07/2006 at 4pm by IC 167 and two people arrived at Cochin by IC 165.
With this, the total number of malayalees that have reached Kerala following the crisis in Lebanon is 66.

As part of the ongoing evacuation process of Indians from Lebanon, on 25th July 2006 at 12 p.m., 23 Malayalees arrived at the Trivandrum International Airport by IC 931 from Chennai. General Manager, NORKA-ROOTS, received them at the airport. It was followed by a batch of 10 Malayalees, who also arrived at the Trivandrum International Airport from Mumbai by IC 167.
Meanwhile 4 persons arrived at the Calicut Airport by IC 657 at 10.30 a.m. followed by batch of 9 Malayalees arriving by IC 993 at 3.15 p.m. from Chennai.
Three Malayalees arrived at the Cochin International Airport at 3.15 p.m. by IC 165.
With this, the total number of Malyalaees who have returned home so far, since the crisis in Lebanon, has now reached 59.

Evacuation of stranded Indians from Lebanon is going on and the first group of 608 Indians arrived at Mumbai and Chennai on the late night of 21/07/06. Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and NORKA have made arrangements to receive the Indians at Mumbai, Chennai and in the other AirPorts of Kerala.
NORKA Officials Mr. A.R.Raju and Mr. B. Mohanan were present at Mumbai AirPort to make arrangements and to receive the Indians. The Flight from Cyprus carrying the Indian evacuees arrived at Mumbai International AirPort at 10.30pm on 21/07/06 and there were 8 Malayalees among them. The Malayalees were then gone to Kerala in Air India flight AI 690 and arrived Cochin at 4.30am on 22/07/06. Mr. APM Mohammed Hanish, District Collector, Ernakulam, Ms. Mini Antony, RDO and NORKA-ROOTS official Mr. C Radhakrishnan received the evacuees. Four of them (Ms. Lalitha Bai, Usha Girish Babu, Jessy Angres and Baby Bhaskaran) were sent to Trivandrum in Vanchinadu Express. They arrived Trivandrum at 10.30am on 22/07/2006. Mr. Jiji Thomson IAS, Principal Secretary, NORKA, Mr. S.M Najeeb General Manager, NORKA-ROOTS and Mr. S. Raveendran, ADM received them at Trivandrum railway station.
NORKA-ROOTS Officials Mr. V.B Jayachandrn and Mr. Sudhir Prakash are in Chennai to receive the evacuees. Two Air India Flights (AI 330 and AI 129) carrying Indian evacuees, arrived at Chennai On 21/07/2006 late night and the only Malayalee present Mr.Muhammed Sharif from Payyanoor was sent to Kerala by Train. Mr. Vayalar Ravi, Hon’ble Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs visited Mumbai and Chennai and gave orders for all arrangements.
More flights from Cyprus are expected from 23/07/2006 onwards.
